Light rain in the morning became snow at 5300'. Loose-wet would be main concern at Deadhorse Point, but the thin snow cover makes rockfall a more likely offender. Overcast and near freezing with start-stop light precip. and occasional fog. A thin snowpack (HS75) at 6470' at Harts Pass quickly drops off to more dirt than snow at 4900' NW of Harts Pass. A profile at Harts Pass on a solar aspect revealed a complicated but generally strong snowpack structure involving many crusts and ice/crust sandwiches. We rode adjacent slopes with no signs of instability, and many nearby slopes were high-marked with no sign of incident (center punch test negative.)
