Quick report
After doing a couple laps around Kendall Knob and observing a stable snowpack below and near the treeline, we cautiously made our way to Kendall Lakes Gulch. Throughout our tour, we found medium-weight powder on top of icy crust, usually about 4F hardness, though sometimes harder. We did many hand pits, ski cuts, etc and found no signs of instability and generally good bond with the crust. Only towards the top of the gulch around 5300 ft we found that the powder layer (about 1.5 ft thick at this point) was a little bit cohesive (very, very soft slab that easily fell apart). Travel conditions were overall excellent, especially in the gulch.
