Surprisingly pleasant day out for the Mt Rainier Nordic Patrol. Added poles around Myrtle Creek crossing as the coverage is still sketchy across the creek. Snow continued throughout the day. We didn’t observe any avalanches but also stayed mostly in low angle terrain. Winds transitioned Strom southerly to westerly over the day. Open areas experienced significantly more wind transport.

Consistent snowfall over the day with variable intensities. Wind was mostly limited to ridgeline locations. Storm snow was right side up and not very cohesive, although wind effected snow was apparent anywhere
Snowpack
- Dug down 93 centimeter on a south facing 17° slope with minor wind effect about half a mile above Paradise lot. 185 cm total depth. - Storm snow on top of the recent melt-freeze crust from late last week was approximately 12 cms at this location, although varied substantially around the region due to wind transport. - Conducted a column test with CT23RP results on the 12/7 interface about 30 cm beneath the surface. - Followed up with an extended column test with ECTN26 results which failed on a density change about 47 cms beneath the surface.
