Quick report

Skinning only (had crampons but never felt the need to employ) tour from Timberline 10am to 10.7K’ Hogsback bergschrund w stretch goal plans to ski out via White River Glacier to 6700’ exit if snow conditions and weather remained reasonable. Thanks to east-facing crust and quickly developing whiteout, neither did. Altered plan to ski better west-facing Coalman snow. 30 minutes earlier would have worked out well until bad whiteout spread to that side as well (and stayed that way all the way down to around base of Palmer before it began to relent). Made for an adventurous, vertigo-heavy exit ski. As I came across a couple parties with hopes to leverage a weather window tonight to summit wee hours of morning, including some beta pics. Be especially cautious of the Pearly Gate option as bootpack track gets right up on the Bergschrund. Glad I was there when I could still see it coming clearly.

Avalanche

D1.5 point release on east-facing wall of White River Headwall that seemed to start small and fanned into decent size.
