Quick report

Cornices along the east aspect of the climbing route, at about 5,000' have developed large cracks. There are many footprints outside of the cracks. No new avalanches seen (admittedly, visibility was very poor today) The mountain saw only a few minutes of sunshine today. Most of the day was dense fog and falling snow (rain below 3500'). Temps were above freezing up to 5500' and snow in this zone was wet and soft with climbers in crampons often a foot deep. There was a 1" thick crust between 6000 and 7000' and soft new snow above (6-12' deep) with alternating areas of hard ice and rime ice between 7000 and the rim at 8250. Several inches of new snow fell between dawn and 4 PM today.
