Quick report
Overhead hazard seemed like the biggest risk today. Snow was shedding from trees and cliffs throughout the day, especially during brief periods of sun around 10am, noon, and 1pm. This produced numerous D.5 slides on steeper terrain. We also observed fresh debris from an D2 avalanche that had run off the east flanks of Mt. Roosevelt towards Gem Lake sometime in the morning. No signs of wind drift or instability in the snowpack otherwise.
Avalanche
Observed one D2 avalanche around 4800ft near Gem Laken that had run off the rocks from the east of Mt Roosevelt. We observed many D.5 avalanches as snow shed from rocks during brief periods of sun throughout the day.
