Incline Peak

We went to Incline Peak to look for some spring snow conditions.  The nearby Slide Mountain sensor had a low of 35 degrees at 9650' last night.  Clear skies helped provide some radiational cooling to the upper snowpack in what turned out to be a very good refreeze of the snow surface in most areas we traveled in today.  We found up to a 12'' melt freeze crust that was knife hard on eastern aspects in the mid-morning.  The top 3 inches of surface snow warmed quickly and provided soft and smooth corn snow.  SE aspects with less traffic provided the best smooth snow surface conditions.  Our first lap was at 10:30am and our 2nd was at 11:30am with good supportable conditions on both runs.  Since our last visit to this location on March 3, snow coverage has decreased but not to the degree that has been observed at other areas at lower elevations.
