Quick report

Cracking
specific

The south aspect snowpack below 6800 ft in the lower Kootenai drainage was gone due to the AR rain event. Above that line and more specifically around 7k ft the snowpack became a hikers nightmare. Knee to thigh deep unsupportable crust that broke at different layers and intervals. Brutal hunting conditions. Deep wind drifts at ridges and deposition locations were capped by stout, nearly knife hard, crust. Most locations on the south aspect that I traveled had serious basal faceting. Localized smalltime collapsing, no other signs of instability in my areas of travel. It snowed 5" the night of the 26th.
