Steamboat & Flat Tops
Weather
Precip started before sunrise, picked up mid afternoon. Very little, but some blowing snow. No radiation influence today.
Snowpack
HS variation from 30-170cm; avg 85 in our terrain. North aspects weaker, with boot to ground in most places. Northeast aspects more supportive, outstanding skiing with 40-50cm ski penetration. East aspects some dust on crust, with 10-20cm on a breakable crust, with facets below. Wind slabs are not much of an issue in our terrain right now, but isolated 30cm deep 4-Finger hard, touchy wind slabs near ridgelines, failing on D/F's. Expect these should settle and strengthen soon. East aspect Crust/Facet combos will be concerning if loaded, but for now not a problem. Stronger snowpack above 7,500'; weaker down near the valley floor (7,000') where more faceting has rotted the snowpack.
