Quick Observation
Thin snowpack as expected below treeline above Gibson Lake with ~10cm sitting on the atmospheric river crust increasing to ~25cm upper treeline and alpine with variable wind effect. Sun crust on steep solars in the alpine with moist snow at treeline and BTL with several sz 1 wet loose triggered on decent. Talked to another group that triggered one sz 1 wind slab on a loaded feature. Skiing was fun up high where you can dodge the wind slab, the scoured aspects, and the direct solar aspects. Below treeline riding was challenging. All in all a stunning day in the park.
Snowpack
Felt a whumpf while touring up a small loaded roll. Decided to dig and take a look. CTM15 (SP) and ECTP3 both down 40cm on facets above the Feb 2 atmospheric river rain crust. Variable wind affect throughout the alpine creating areas with substantially more snow deposited onto this crust while other areas are nearly stripped bare.
