The Yukon field team spent the day training around the Fraser lake area, practicing companion rescue scenarios, emergency response and extraction of an injured patient. Upwards of 20 cm of light snow has fallen last night through this morning. Sledding conditions were good keeping in mind that there are still numerous rock sharks, stumps, open water and holes to get stuck in, given the early season snowpack. A natural avalanche (sz 1.5), likely windslab, pulled out of the rocks to the east of Big Kahuna and travelled around 200 m down slope early this afternoon. Going forward, we will be cautious of travel below wind loaded terrain and aware of slab formation.
