Quick report
Route - Started the climb from the Clear Creek trailhead on the afternoon of Saturday, July 18th. Carried microspikes and trekking poles for the climb. Camped at the springs around 8,500 feet. Began the summit climb from camp at 5am on Sunday morning. We reached the snowfield at ~10,500 feet a couple of hours later. We decided to cross the lower part of the snowfield, and because of that decision, we did not feel the need to put on our microspikes. Others who crossed the snowfield higher up used microspikes. We traveled on dry ground after that point to above the headwall section at around 13,500 feet, where we encountered another patch of snow. However, the terrain was flat, and we did not feel the need to put on our microspikes. The summit pinnacle was dry ground. We reached the summit around 1130am.
Weather - Above Mushroom Rock and before the headwall, we encountered the strongest wind of the day. Otherwise, mostly sunny skies with increasing clouds throughout the day on Sunday.
Other notes - Our trekking poles were very helpful both up and down. We each carried 3L of water on summit day - carrying slightly more would have been better, but of course would have added more weight. Beautiful flowers.
