Quick report
Ski tour on an east face to the south of the White Mountain ridgeline. We choose to ski the Southern part of the ridgeline due to a very visable crown on White Mountain proper that occured last week. From the ridgeline, there were large areas of bare ground on west facing aspects with the ridgeline completely bare itself. At 11000ft, the snow was heavily wind boarded, 50cms deep with 10-15cm tall sastrugi waves. Dropping 500ft we were able to find nice sections of wind transported powder located in depressions within the 25° aspect. The treeline at 9800ft is naturally where a lot of dry snow was located, completely untouched by wind and solar effects of recent days, even at midday, there was no signs of surface warming. Average depth of snow <9800ft was 150cms.
Avalanche
Prominent Crown on East aspect within main White Mountain cirque, headwall estimated at 10,700ft. Occured last week and visable from 108 with binoculars in the morning. See photos.
