Mammoth area- limited solar warming

I ventured off the backside of MMSA today to get an idea of surface warming and loose wet potential.

• Winds increased throughout the afternoon, becoming strong. The wind chills were also notable and kept things pretty chilly overall. Some surface moistening was observed but not particularly extensive. The winds did a good job of keeping the LW potential in check in exposed areas.
• Cold winds kept loose wet concerns at bay above treeline and in exposed areas with indirect sun. Small fans of roller balls were observed in these areas, and some dense, heavy snow was present, but it was not quite an avalanche concern yet.
• I triggered several small loose wet avalanches near and below the treeline in protected areas with direct solar input.
