Compared to my last tour three days ago, things have quieted down significantly. Although there was evidence of recent avalanche activity (natural and human trigger) as discussed in previous reports, on shorter, steeper slopes, we initiated nothing on test slopes up to 35 degrees. Also, compared to the rolling thunder collapses on 26 Dec, we heard only a couple of minor rumbles today. Still, giving any slopes with consequences a wide birth.

Threw in this report as we saw only one other tourer today below Montreal Hill, although there were four people exiting on two snowmobiles at about 10 AM. Took no pictures, left only ptex. Quite a bit in fact.

Snowpack

Surface snow varied from settled powder, to dense powder, to wind slab depending on elevation and aspect.
