Quick report

Wet avalanche problems developed through the day on the southern half of the compass. We found decent skiing with cold and soft snow surfaces off high northwest-facing terrain and low north-facing terrain. Below, 10,700ft on ENE facing terrain, there was an old thin crust and roller balls from a past greenhouse event that made ski quality poor.

Snowpack

South 11,500ft around noon. A snow profile below a rock outcrop showed free water pooling near the bottom of the Cupid slab and draining through the 2/8 crust into soft facets below. Ski pen at this time was about ankle deep into wet snow as a wet loose avalanche problem was developing. 

We targeted an unusually shallow ENE facing slope near treeline (a terrain feature that saw previous wind erosion) and found hard, propagating test results below the cupid slab.  Most of our travels were in notably deeper areas without signs of instability.

NW between 11,000 and 12,000ft around 1pm. Dry, previously wind affected snow that provided some nice soft turns with a little firmer wind effect in places. 

Between 9,700 and 10,700ft at 2pm. ENE facing terrain had old thin crusts and roller balls, likely from one of the past greenhouse events. More northerly facing slopes were cold and provided some nice soft turns.

Recent wet loose avalanche activity on the southern half of the compass was visible from both today and yesterday. These avalanches were small in size. Additional old slab avalanches were also documented.
