We toured into the fake breaks knowing they had received a couple feet of new snow in the past week. We wanted to scout out some lines and dig a couple quick pits to sample the layers. We dug one pit in the avalanche runout that had triggered above 9800ft and determined there was at least 6 feet of stable snow with unknown conditions underneath on a 30 degree slope. We shifted just southeast on 33 degrees and dug another pit outside the runout and found heavier layers about 2 ft deep on top of a 4" weak layer and created a slab with a tap test. We enjoyed our views and skied out of the low angle area discussing plans to come back later for a boot pack session.
