Quick report
We dug the traditional Thanksgiving day pit in Avalanche Bowl that has been done since 1986 in the same location. The average over this time period is 86cm/34". This year's pit was 52cm/20" in depth. Of note in this pit was two crusts with advanced facets in between. No propagation in tests, as there is no slab within the snowpack with enough integrity to allow for propagation. In summary, the snowpack in this location is generally weak and shallow. No avalanches, cracking or collapses observed. Poor viz.
