Went on a tour up to Hunter Pass to enjoy some of the new snow that has fallen on Anchorage. Still actively storming pretty hard with winds blowing and moving much of the snow. Some pockets had 18+ inches of snow while other pockets were blown down to the base. The gully held generally good snow, on average 8" but with lots of variability. There was lots of cracking as I put in my own skinner, so I began searching for more information and was able to get a few test slopes to release and propogate out 10+ feet. On the way up, I observed more snow lower down in the trees due to the wind transport, but I was bummed to find a frustrating punchable crust beneath the powder that made the skiing less than desirable where the snow was the deepest.
