This large avalanche broke into faceted weak snow near the ground, as the majority of the avalanches from this cycle have. It is interesting to note that this avalanche has a bit of a southern aspect component to it. It is not very common for us to see avalanches breaking into faceted snow near the ground on southerly aspects.
The debris pile on this slide was quite impressive. The debris below my machine is at least 20 feet deep.
