Ventured out into the low-angle trees above Half Moon to look at the surrounding snowpack after Friday's avalanche. We dug a pit on a the low angle slope above the crown. The pit was at 6300 ft, along a S 29 degree slope with a snowpack depth of 185 cm. Our ECT test yielded a ECTP 19 and failed on a layer of buried surface hoar above a hard crust layer at 45 cm down. We repeated the test and received ECTX. We dug a second pit near Fried Chicken on a SW slope at 6300 with an ECTP 13 and a PST 25/100 end at 40 cm down, which also collapsed on a buried surface hoar layer.
