Toured into the alpine out of the beehive trailhead this morning. This morning the snow was cold and being blown around. Near ridge lines and across some aprons, a stiff wind slab was beginning to form. Some ridge lines had thick, hollow whales. Handpits showed well bonded new snow, although most locations I dug had a stiffer windslab, maybe 3-6”. Small amounts of cracking were present near ridge lines and cornices were easy to snap off. Cold powder was still abundant in wind sheltered areas. By the time I was exiting (10am), small loose sluffs had started to slide on solar aspects. Also saw some old storm slab debris (d1-1.5) covered in a few inches of fresh.
