Above 6,000 feet the snow depth is + 5 feet. There are weak layers, in the snowpack, due to several crust layer. Using snowpack tests, I have been unable to yield any results indicative of avalanches. Your over the snow travel should be to avoid wind loaded terrain, which may start a small depth avalanche but could activate the lower weak layers to slide as well.

Snowpack
SNOWPACK: Although we have started another series of storms, which are fetching moisture from the subtropics (atmospheric river), the snow parks in the reporting areas, was mainly rain. The snow level has hovered around 6,000 feet over the past few days. Above the 6,000-foot level and above treeline, it was a different story. At treeline and over the ridges the wind is moving the snow to the lee side. The snow that is being deposited on the lee side maybe falling on a rain crust surface. Any natural or human triggered avalanches most likely will be from the new snow falling on the rain crust surface. Slides were noted in the Mt. Baily area today. Those appeared to be caused by Wind Slabs. Above 6,000 feet the snow depth is + 5 feet. There are weak layers, in the snowpack, dueto several crust layer. With the exception of the Mt. Bachelor avalanche mitigation, Ski Patrol used normal avalanche explosives, Avalanche forecasters, using snowpack tests, have been unable to yield any results indicative of avalanches.
