We took a stab at Sutton Peak this morning but trees across the road slowed us down before stopping us in our tracks. On the Stuart Rd this happened just past the turnoff above Maquilla Creek. On the Alston Rd, right at the turnoff for the Lower Alston Rd. Both snags will need more than a Silky saw or the 6" bar on our handy Stihl. And they will block a truck when the snowline recedes enough to try.
To get to the Alston Road, we found ourselves sledding on the Nimpkish Main for a time. A first for us for sure! This is to say that, aside from downed trees, sled access is currently amazing. Truck chains won't make it too high off the valley floor, for now.
We noticed inverted, cool valley temps reaching only about 0C at our 500m high point. We didn't see the warming trigger any slides from our distant vantage.
