A quick morning trip up to Brohm ridge showed us just how much these storms have delivered. We parked around km 6 to avoid icy road conditions, but the snow coverage doesn’t really start until 1200 m. We dug a pit at 1700 m and found a total snow depth of 245 cm, with 120 cm sitting on top of the December rain crust. On the ridge we found a firm wind slab that gave moderate results down 60 cm in our compression test. In sheltered areas the riding was great and very deep! Lots of holes dug today, but only one was for science.
