Stonewall Creek
Quick report
We parked at the junction of Stonewall Creek/Park Creek roads, then skinned north following the creek for about a mile and a half before crossing the creek and gaining the ridge on the west side of the canyon. Dug our pit on a southeast facing 30 degree slope at 7,100ft, right beneath the ridge. Snow depth was 160-175cm throughout our pit, and snowpack felt stable, with denser, wetter snow near the ground. When running through tests, we saw some movement at a layer of crust 90cm from the ground, with a bit of cracking at CT26. Saw no more cracking or propagation during our ECT. Overall, strong snow pack! Got to make some dreamy glade turns down to the creek and followed the road back to our car. We did have to climb over/under 50+ down trees along the creek. Seems like a lot came down during last week’s wind storms!
