Copperhead Peak

Snowpack observations are few and far between in this zone. It often has a more continental snowpack than the Bitterroot with higher elevations and colder temperatures but also is favored by most weather patterns to recieve large storms. I suspect this aspect is still holding weak facets near the ground, similar to what can be found in the southern Bitterroot.

I suspect the trigger was wind loading with the north wind and new snow which overloaded the basal facets near the ground. 

We do not have wind or snow data for this area due to a lack of weather stations but just north at Lost Trail pass, about a foot of new snow fell with steady north winds.
