Quick report

The storm snow has settled out and snowpack stability has improved since the storm cycle concluded. Below 6500 ft, wind drifted snow appeared unreactive. Instability was confied to steep solar aspects.

What a beautiful day to be out. The day started cold, but warmed up quicly once the sun rose. Winds were nearly non-existant, a rare day for Mt Hood. It felt warm and comfortable by noon.

Snowpack

Today we travled over several differnt aspects and elevations along the upper Newton drinage. We generally found a right-side-up upper snowpack strucutre. We observed eviendce of wind loading from days past, but these pockets appeared unreactive in the locations we travled below 6500 ft. 

The sun has been melting snow surfaces along steep southerly aspects. We observed rollers and one small wet point release in the usual, seep south aspects under rock and cliff bands along Gnarl Ridge. Otherwise wet activity seemed limited to these types of areas.  This process left a crust on steep solars during the moring hours. 

The new snow has been settling nicely, but deep snow immersion hazards such as tree wells remian a real concern on shady forested terrain.
