Quick report
Happy February! Snow started coming down in larger flakes around 9am at De Roux Camp. Snowed consistently for about 1.5-2hrs before transitioning to light rain, estimate about 0.25-0.5" of snow in camp. Toured up to Longs Pass, very windy across the pass. ~5,000' on NW aspect dug a quick hand pit and observed a 8-10" slab that was easy to release over deep unconsolidated sugary granules. Above 5,600' wind slab was more apparent, other hand pit tests higher up did not show the same sugary layer. Estimated about 2" of fresh snowfall in sheltered terrain below the pass. Descended on good snow over crust, then toured over to Ingalls pass, stopped short of the ridge in sheltered trees around and transitioned at 6,200' due to observed previous avalanche debris and desire to avoid steep terrain. Tree skiing back to Esmeralda TH was great, feels like winter!
