Sky overcast, snowing, hard at times, wind 260- light, ridge top winds strong transporting snow, signs of drifting and loading, HS 110, elevation 6300, aspect 090, temp. 23, upper 20cm were pretty reactive failing on 2-5 column test, the buried surface hoar down about 25 cm was surprisingly not reactive possibly due to rain locking it up. It was snowing HARD, snow depth was quite variable ( to supportable crust) in protected areas 25cm on ridges exposed to the wind 1/2 that. Signs of poor bonding in exposed areas. Started about 9:30 returned about 14:00 5-7 new in our tracks. Higher (6000) elevation was receiving much more snow than lower down (4000).
