Snowing, temp. 29, wind (270 ish ridge tops) variable at observation site. 25/ gust 45 . transporting snow. East aspect. 6000’ . Kinda a bs report because there are still plenty of thin spots, but in areas of deeper snow (60-70 cm) we dug a quick pit and discovered multiple layers that were very reactive. It was so miserable we didn’t really delve into the mechanism, but it was displacing on isolation. The older buried surface hoar was not as unstable as earlier reports noted. Some isolated collapsing noted on un supported wind loaded areas. Visibility was so poor we were not able to observe steeper terrain in the area.
