Quick report
- Cracking
- isolated
Stormy conditions, poor visibility and plenty of new snow might have made the day feel more hazardous than it actually ended up being around the Baker BC. There is still a lot of uncertainty about the bond of the new snow to the old snow surface.
Only unsupported features seemed to produce cracking or small avalanches. No long shooting cracks except in freshly forming cornices.Weather

Stormy. Winds not too strong but enough to drift snow. Heavy snowfall with 4" on the truck between 8:45 and 11:30am.
Snowpack
Roughly 40cm of HN at 1130. In most areas, layering was right side up with 4F>1F in the new snow. In wind-loaded areas, found stubborn 1F slab over 4F. On average there was 60cm over the 1/8 crust and 120-150cm over the 12/30 crust.
Was able to identify the 1/16 interface but it produced no results in testing on both north and south aspects.
