It was very wind-affected on all aspects in the ALP. Skiing at TL is ideal for powder. There were 2 recent cornice failures that propagated a slab avalanche below (sz. 1-1.5); however, I have no details on what layer due to the viewing distance. There was 1 other recent avy that failed just below a cornice on a steep E-aspect on facetted, rocky terrain (sz. 1). See snowpack summary for other details. Travel in ALP was easy, but would recommend ski crampons.
We had several layers fail during our CT. Most notable was a CTV (SP) down 10 on FC. This was the wind slab. The top layers were sandwiched as K (wind slab), 1F (FC), K (persistent slab), 4F (FC) with a small skiff of new snow (0.5cm) sitting on top. We had a moderate test result on the persistent slab (RP down 25). Interesting to note is the persistent slab was not nearly as thick as other areas have been reporting, which I believe made the PWLs below it react in our CT (moderate & hard results). The pit was 25 degrees and on a NE aspect near Connector Pass. We chose not to ascend the pass because of these results. Low, Low, Low doesn't always mean GO!
