During low elevation snow observations today we observed a very saturated wet upper snowpack from 6000ft to 7200. From 7200-7400 it transitioned to much better snow quality. Walking up a north facing slope from 6500-6900 feet the snowpack ranged from 50-80cm. The lower 30cm of the snowpack was still well preserved basil facets! As we moved up the skin track we experience numerous whumps/collapses that spread as much as 50 meters around us. Seeing this much reactivity still present after the warming event and rain event was surprising. In a snow pit on a NE aspect at 7400 feet we still had concerning results in the basil facet layer.
