Ophir Peak/Price Peak Ridge

We toured out to the Ophir Peak/Price Peak Ridge today to dig a comparison pit adjacent to our pit in this area from Feb 23. On the way out, we noted that the upper snowpack had not undergone a snow surface refreeze last night. We also noted that the upper snowpack has become more ski supportable.

Once at our pit site, we noted that the Feb 10 layer was much closer to the snow surface than before the rain event, about 1 foot down rather than 3 feet down. The snowpack remains wet. We did not see any indications of ongoing instability or potential of weak layer propagation in our snowpit. We targeted the Feb 10 layer and the snow above it.

We dug a pit adjacent to our pit in this area from Feb 23. Major changes were a decrease in HS of 87cm and full rounding of the Feb 10 layer.
