Quick report
The overnight refreeze of the snowpack was good, with firm snow surfaces this morning on Mt. Tallac. We used ski crampons for most of the ascent which made for easier and safer travel. Temperatures warmed quickly with sunny skies and light winds. We descended Corkscrew at 11am. The upper slopes above 8000' were mostly smooth and provided good corn snow conditions. Below 8000', additional tracks and some mini sun cups made for not as smooth of a snow surface along with additional wet surface snow present. We were able to make it up and down with limited walking back to the trailhead. Snow coverage is disappearing quickly at lower elevations.
