There are still variable conditions at Powderhouse. The new snow just covers the many old tracks in this area. Those old tracks were hardened by the previous winds, then dusted with the storm snow. The higher temperature and solar radiation are affecting the snow on NW aspects; it's getting wet enough at the surface to ball up the snow into clumps. The other N aspects are still holding dry surface snow. Descending, the old tracks made for a bumpy downhill. There are still the rare and short untracked shots that had enjoyable soft snow. Surface wind crust of 1 cm on SW aspect cracking.

Snowpack
Near surface layers composed of approximately 6 cm of facets on top of crust on NW, N, NE aspects. At 8050 ft, crusts at 6, 24, 58 cm down. At 8550 ft, crusts at 2, 32, 66cm down. At 9050 ft, 8, 20, 60, 80 cm down. The NW aspect at 9050 ft had snow getting wet from afternoon solar radiation. On N and NE aspects, snow was still fairly dry.
