Frog Lake

We headed out towards Frog Lake to investigate wind slabs and current conditions. Throughout the day, winds were generally light out of the NE. Once we got to Frog Lake, there was no wind, but we could see clear banners of snow coming off of Round Top and The Sisters ridge lines. Basically, more snow transportation up high in Alpine terrain than down low.  We did not find newly formed wind slabs in below tree line or near tree line terrain in this zone.  I dug a pit on a N-NW aspect @ 8850. The snowpack looked uniformed with one small density change about 50 cm down. That was 4F hard approximately 1cm thick. This layer did produce a result in my compression test with a CT 18 RP. The extended column test did not produce any propagating results on this layer.  Otherwise no signs of instability were observed.
