avalanche

Coordinates

50.814023, -117.933453

Quick Observation

We skied between 1700 and 2300m today, thin zipper crust on the surface at all elevations skied. Above 2000m was good travel with very little ski pen and below that felt pretty upside down and made for challenging skiing.

Avalanche Information

Impressive propagation and slab depth. Suspect it ran on crust interface, see snowpack information.

Snowpack

We dug a full profile and had some alarming results. CTM 15 SP down 70cm X2 ECTH 25 SP down 70cm Failure was directly above a crust sandwich that lies 30 cm above the ground. Unsure on the distribution, however we did observe a new natural avalanche and suspect that it failed on this interface.
