Quick Observation
Team: J Budd IFMGA, Mel W (CSGA2) Trip: Body Bag to Circle Lake and then Decker Lake. Decker Lake to Decker Meadows and then out D Ridge. Winds were moderate and gusting strong. HST ranged from 5cm - 40cm on lee aspect from B Bowl down to Circle Lake. Snow transport was light to moderate. Up tracking from Decker Lake, working benches to avoid overhead hazard from Decker. Mel put a kick turn in and a shooting crack propagated 15-20m across to convex slope and initiated the avalanche which propagated approximately 100m to prominent ridge toward circle lake. Crown at convex roll 40 cm and 10cm at rocky ridge. Bed surface Dec 30 Cr. 4 Finger resistance at crown. Second avalanched observed on way out: 1400 hrs, Fingers Chute/Decker, Sz 1.5, NA 2300-2150m, NW Aspect .
