Skied a circuit around purple knob. 180HS on north aspect at TL 2150m. Top 30 to 40cm low density sitting on a noticeable late Jan interface. Probe indicates stiffer mid snowpack. Didn’t encounter any significant windslab up to 2400m on east and north aspects. Evidence of older size 2 slab avalanches along the way in this area from larger triggers and some more recent small surface slabs failures in more exposed higher terrain. Thin sun crust forming on steep solar aspects BTL. Best skiing was sheltered TL and BTL terrain.
Several big cornices threaten ESE slopes approach to purple knob col.
Sunny and periodic light breeze today. Lots of temp variations. -15 to -5 depending on location. mild for February in sun at TL but cold in shade
