Quartz Ridge

<p>I skied and boot packed to the summit of Quaztz ridge. Wet sluffs to size 1.5 off the steep east face of the Monarch began around 1015 am due to intense solar radiation. On the north ridge I encounter thigh deep facets. The main summit has 10 cm wind slab over facets. We avoided the big roll over on the summit. I would recommend waiting a few melt freeze cycles before skiing from the summit. We saw a small slab on Simpson ridge triggered by a cornice fall in the am.
Travel was excellent in the am but around 2 pm are skins would ball up even with skin wax. Found some good corn skiing at lower elevations. East aspects were wet to 2600m. Best powder turns were on nw aspect.
