20 cm of new snow made a huge difference in riding quality in Hellroaring today. The new snow was reactive along ridgetops (including a size 1.5 wind slab avalanche that ran overnight) as well as in a few steep openings at lower elevations. We dug down to the December crust layer on a slope adjacent to where a large avalanche occurred on a few weeks ago and found there were several crusts between 180 and 220 cm deep, and they were all strong and bonded. No significant test results in our snowpit.
