"Guys I don't think skiing Swiss north is a good idea but I´ll do it if you want to"

To the North face of Swiss we quested. The polar aspect skied really well recently. The stability was there. The vibe was impenetrable. So we went. The whole climb to the summit of the peak was impeccable. Fast, vicious, sweaty and proud. Today was a bit cooler and the sun more gentle to allow safe passage via the South face. But little did we know that the 2200m long legendary run of the magnificent north face of Swiss was going to be in horrendous conditions. The extremely thin coverage on the top pitch did not reassure me. But you need more than a few sharks to discourage my two acolytes. We proceeded to rappel the top rock band that did not allow a skier to sneak through today. Then is was on, we had the whole thing for us, but it got increasingly worse after each turn. Firm urine colour astrugis formed by unknow forces of this world. A rock fall of some sort occured earlier in the season, leaving a large portion of the slope above the bergschrund covered with dirt and pebbles. More wind affected snow on the glacier led us to the alpine and treeline slopes below the toe of the ice. Finally we got rewarded by giggly jingle pow. 10-20mm SH all over the place made for great skiing to the sizable shuffle contour that granted us a swift return to our car. One the greatest run in the area nonetheless. But somehow this winter took a toll on the line so far. It will need a lot more to make it worthy of another visit fellow travelers.
