Quick Observation

Spent the day north of Sparwood where there was 5-10cm overnight the first part of the storm came in warm so the precipitation saturated the SH layer which may support the bonding of the layers above and below it. Temps cooled and deposited 10cm of snow overnight and with more snow throughout the day, the total 24-hour accumulation was around 15cm. There was no whumfping or cracking either sledding or skiing today, but we still stuck to low angle slopes at treeline and avoided any overhead hazards due to new snow and lack of visibility. We dug a profile at 2100m on a SW aspect (see snowpack tab for more details)

Snowpack

We had no results in the Extended Column Test (ECTN) and a resistant result in the compression test CTM (18) Progressive Compression (PC) down 23cm below a crust.
