Lawson ski touring

A walk in the alpine on some north aspects far back in the area around Lawson Lake. Deep snow in valley bottom made for good low elevation sledding but as we climbed out of the trees we found a common mix of hard surfaces. Old wind affected snow was the defining feature of the alpine. Some areas had boot top skiing and others had a breakable surface. Low visibility with power flurries all day made for skiing by brail conditions on the decent and challenging sledding in the whiteroom! -7, light and variable wind.
