Tuesday: A beautiful day for a hike but not a great day to ski. Our snowboarder faired better with the severely wind affected snowpack. We did not observe any signs of instability, thankfully. I expected bad things to happen but we did choose the most supported terrain and avoided all overhead hazards.
Warm temperatures, 10-15 cm of new snow and strong southerly winds on Monday with near zero temperatures at mountaintop created an dense wind affected snowpack. Skiable in sheltered areas only. Baldy Rocks was challenging to ski on the maintenance shop aspect but still fun.
