We skied mostly northeast to northwest aspects on the west side of the Dempster highway at km 78. Weather was sunny, with temperature at -11C and light winds from the north. The valley bottom had an easily breakable crust with sugary facets that collapsed easily under our weight. Some whoompfing and drum-like sounds were observed but only on microfeatures near the valley bottom, and not in avalanche terrain. North faces we skied in the alpine had a supportive, unbreakable crust with variable 2-15cm of powder, which made for good skiing.
