pleasantly surprised. the valley bottom is littered with storm slab on every convexity along the river from last few days. there seems like 30+ cm new snow since sunday. we cautiously approached the alpine convexities heading up to the cleaver. there was no evidence of instability (ie. no natural activity on any of the undulating convexities approaching dome col) and surprisingly soft champagne powder without wind effect. probably got a decent amount of solar on exposed surfaces today it was bright with only partial cloud in the morning. didn’t go for dome due to steepness and possible wind affect but didn’t really check it out. probed 2.5m at the toe of the small glacier under the cleaver.
