According to avalanche danger rating we chose Molar Trees as a conservative option in moderately treed terrain. The skin track was well trafficked (more than 15 people that we knew of recreating at about the same time). The skin track was situated in well-treed terrain but just about where it reached out into a glade a snowboarder dropped on top of my group and remote triggered a Sz1 persistent slab, down 60cm. Please, be cautious of your surroundings and communicate with other groups in the backcountry.
Avalanche was remote triggered by a skier who dropped on top of my group. The storm slab failed approximately 60cm down on what I assume is the early Dec persistent weak layer (surface hoar), see AvCan snowpack summary. It went off right as we were skinning up where the skin track popped out the coverage of trees into a gladed area. A total of two people got swept away, ended up on the surface roughly 30 meters down and were not harmed.
